Android is a recent platform which is gaining popularity very quickly. However as it is very new, it has a few shortocomings. These are being updated slowly, but steadily. To synchronize cell phone with Android OS, it needs to be version 2.2 (Froyo), 2.2.1, 2.2.2, 2.3.2 (Gingerbread) and 2.3.3. These versions support only contact transfer (at least now).

First, download PhoneCopy for Android to your phone. It's free. Install it and then follow these steps.

Type in your username, password and pick Android account to sync Click on Synchronize

Now you can start the first synchronization on your Android phone to backup your data to PhoneCopy server

Some additional tips:

Just as a reminder, the contacts are carried via your mobile phone service provider, so you need to have data transfers activated for the service to work. If you you don't have a special data scheme, your carrier will charge you additional fees (during our testing, ca 500 contacts cost approximately 1,5 USD for all the data carried during a full syncronization, service provided by O2). Contact can be then transferred to another device eq. iPhone, other Nokia, SonyEricsson, Samsung, LG etc). Always you can edit your contacts in your online account. PhoneCopy is often used as a ultimate backup service, should you loose your phone or the stored data, or if you just run out of battery and you need to see your contacts online. Also, on your online account, you will see full history of your contacts, as well as the data that you've deleted in between the synchronizations. You can find them in an archvie from where you can restore them. And if this is still not enough of a backup for you, you can download a .CSV file, that you can store in your computer.

The whole backup, including the settings, can be done in several minutes and the service is completely free.
