Nokia C5-00 phone setup
To have your contacts saved you have to synchronize the Nokia C5-00 with PhoneCopy. To show how to set up the synchronization we've made some screenshots. If those screenshot differ from you specific cell phone, follow the steps from it's Phonecopy manual. Create a new synchronization profile in the menu:
Follow the instructions to set up the connection. If you're only saving contacts, you can leave out some of the steps, or you can backup you calendar, tasks and notes as well.
Start the synchronization now. You can select the data to be synchronized before starting. If you are transferring only contacts, choose to transfer contacts only. However if you want to use PhoneCopy as a backup platform and you have made the corresponding settings, choose Calendar, Tasks and Notes as well.
Assign your Nokia C5-00 to your PhoneCopy account
After your phone is synchronized, go back to your PhoneCopy online profile (probably you will have it still open in the browser since you activated your account) and accept the assignment of your phone to the account. If you do it within the hour after the synchronization, the phone will be assigned automatically and you will only need to confirm the process. If the delay is greater than one hour, you will be asked by the server for the cellphone's identification number, called IMEI. This number can be easily found under the battery of the cellphone, or you can type in the symbols *#06# and the IMEI will appear on the display.
And now it's time to transfer contacts to your Microsoft Windows
Many users are using their Windows PC and they find themselves in need of backup or synchronize contacts externaly. For these purposes there is a simple solution PhoneCopy for Windows, which we've prepared this tutorial for.
How to start?
You need an PC with an operating system Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, 2003, 2008, Vista or Windows 7. Let us just remind you, that for now PhoneCopy for Windows only transfers contacts. The list of other officially supported devices is here.
Backup and synchronize contacts from your Windows PC
Create PhoneCopy account. In your web browser, simply go to Registration form. Fill in username you wish, your email, and password twice. Read terms of service, tick "I agree with terms of service" and press "Continue" button. Then check your email inbox for activation email. There should be a link in the mail - click on it. You now have your account set up. If you wish, you don't need to fill in device parameters now.
Download PhoneCopy for Windows, run the installer. It may take a couple of minutes to install. After installation PhoneCopy icon will appear on your desktop.

Start PhoneCopy for Windows. Fill your PhoneCopy username and password, select local directory to store contacts, and choose VCARD format which will be used (we recommend to use 3.0 which is pre-selected). Also you can set your proxy.
Now you can start the first synchronization on your Windows to transfer your contacts from/to PhoneCopy server. Also you can select synchronization direction. When you will add any VCARD contacts to selected directory you will see it synchronized to PhoneCopy after next sync. Status bar icon is animated during synchronization process.
When synchronization finish you will get confirming message.
Now you have all your contacts synchronized on PhoneCopy and you can edit your contacts in your online account. PhoneCopy can also be used as a regular synchronization service to synchronize with other devices, should you loose your Windows's stored contacs, or if you just run out of notebook battery and you need to see your contacts online. Also, on your online account, you will see full history of your contacts, as well as the data that you've deleted in between the synchronizations. You can find them in an archvie from where you can restore them.
Some additional tips
Just as a reminder, the contacts are carried via your mobile phone service provider, so you need to have data transfers activated for the service to work. If you you don't have a special data scheme, your carrier will charge you additional fees (during our testing, ca 500 contacts cost approximately 1,5 USD for all the data carried during a full syncronization, service provided by O2). Contact can be then transferred to another device eg. iPhone, other Nokia, SonyEricsson, Samsung, LG etc). You can edit your contacts in your online account. PhoneCopy is often used as a ultimate backup service, should you loose your phone or the stored data, or if you just run out of battery and you need to see your contacts online. Also, on your online account, you will see full history of your contacts, as well as the data that you've deleted in between the synchronizations. You can find them in an archvie from where you can restore them. And if this is still not enough of a backup for you, you can download a .CSV file, that you can store in your computer.
The whole backup, including the settings, can be done in several minutes and the service is completely free.
