Transfer contacts from your Nokia C6-01 to the cloud server

This tutorial addresses Nokia C6-01, however it should work for all Symbian^3 phones like Nokia C7-00, Nokia C6-01, Nokia N8-00 and Nokia E7-00.

How to start?

You can browse the list of supported devices, then go to Phonecopy.com to create an online account.

Registration on Phonecopy.com

Phonecopy client registration is simple. Choose your username and insert your email address, where we will send you a confirmation email that you will need to activate your account.

Nokia C6-01 cellphone setup

To have your contacts saved you have to synchronize the Nokia C6-01 with PhoneCopy. To show how to set up the synchronization we've made some screenshots. If those screenshots differ from you specific cell phone, follow the steps from it's Phonecopy manual. Create a new synchronization profile in the menu:

Choose Settings Choose Connectivity Choose Data Transfer Choose Sync

Now set up your connection. You may now choose if you want to synchronize contact, calendar, notes, etc. or only contacts.

Choose New Sync Profile Synchronization wizard Enter Phonecopy Choose 1.2

Write: Contacts Write: Calendar Write: Notes Choose Internet

Type http://www.phonecopy.com/sync Leave it empty Fill your username Fill your password

You can synchronize now. Choose which items you want to synchronize (contacts / calendar / notes / tasks)..

Finish wizard Start the synchronization

Assign your Nokia C6-01 to your PhoneCopy account

After your phone is synchronized, go back to your PhoneCopy online profile (probably you will have it still open in the browser since you activated your account) and accept the assignment of your phone to the account. If you do it within the hour after the synchronization, the phone will be assigned automatically and you will only need to confirm the process. If the delay is greater than one hour, you will be asked by the server for the cellphone's identification number, called IMEI. This number can be easily found under the battery of the cellphone, or you can type in the symbols *#06# and the IMEI will appear on the display.

And now it's time to transfer contacts to your Samsung Galaxy Mega

Desired cell phone could not be found, sorry.

Assign your Samsung Galaxy Mega to your PhoneCopy account too

After your phone is synchronized, go back to your PhoneCopy online profile (probably you will have it still open in the browser since you activated your account) and accept the assignment of your phone to the account. If you do it within the hour after the synchronization, the phone will be assigned automatically and you will only need to confirm the process. If the delay is greater than one hour, you will be asked by the server for the cellphone's identification number, called IMEI. This number can be easily found under the battery of the cellphone, or you can type in the symbols *#06# and the IMEI will appear on the display.

Some additional tips

Just as a reminder, the contacts are carried via your mobile phone service provider, so you need to have data transfers activated for the service to work. If you you don't have a special data scheme, your carrier will charge you additional fees (during our testing, ca 500 contacts cost approximately 1,5 USD for all the data carried during a full syncronization, service provided by O2). Contact can be then transferred to another device eg. iPhone, other Nokia, SonyEricsson, Samsung, LG etc). You can edit your contacts in your online account. PhoneCopy is often used as a ultimate backup service, should you loose your phone or the stored data, or if you just run out of battery and you need to see your contacts online. Also, on your online account, you will see full history of your contacts, as well as the data that you've deleted in between the synchronizations. You can find them in an archvie from where you can restore them. And if this is still not enough of a backup for you, you can download a .CSV file, that you can store in your computer.

The whole backup, including the settings, can be done in several minutes and the service is completely free.
